With
the rain playing havoc throughout this week, only a handful of games
made it to the pitch on Sunday morning…
Premier Division
In
the only game of the division, Finchampstead hosted William Twigg
Albion today and were made to pay as the visitors tore through the
Finch defence to fire their way to the top of the table with another
3 points. Mark Docherty, Jamie Docherty, Mick Havermans (2), Louis
Brown and Kevin Mills all netted for Twigg in this 6-1 victory.

2nd
Division
AFC
Dukes had the torrid time of trying to tame the rampant attacking
force of FC A1 Group and felt the full force of their strike power
as the visitors commanded the game and won 9-1. Adam Cornell (4),
Tom Williams (2), Ben Elgar, Mitch Chesterman and Sam Stroud all
netted for A1 who could even afford to strike off the missed penalty
from Mark Elgar. Darren Knapp scored for AFC Dukes as the home side
never gave up the battle.
Finchampstead
Ath A were pipped at the post by 3M today as a late goal saw the
visitors win the fixture 3-2. Joe Atkinson, John Edney and Mark
Tyler all scored for 3M, with Ian Stephenson and Joe Phillips bagging
the goals for Finch. The Bridge never really turned out today as
their match against Woodley Hammers Res ended up very one sided
in the favour of the visitors with a 5-1 score line. Dave Brown
netted the only goal for The Bridge whilst Adam Richardson (3),
Mark Howell and Charlie Gale all scored in this dominating performance.
3rd
Division
Bracknell
Manics Res and Calfridus Wanderers battled hard and had to wait
until late on for a deciding strike to finish off the game. Alex
Croxford put Calfridus a goal up after smashing in a free kick from
outside the box. This lead lasted until just after the half as Manics
came out fighting to grab the equaliser through Stewart Corfield.
Calfridus were then reduced to 10 men through injury but kept battling
and made the effort pay as Steve Heard broke the offside trap late
on and managed to beat the keeper from close range to seal a 2-1
victory. Manics would like to wish a fond farewell to John Brussels
as he played his last match for them before returning home to Holland.
FC
Mucahchos let their concentration slip and invited AFC Beechfleet
to grab all 3 points on offer today. John Clifford (2), David Clifford
and Andy Sweet all netted in this 4-0 victory.
Inter
keep their 100% record intact after seeing off Loddon Valley Rangers
4-2. The home side found themselves 3-0 up as Matt Harrington, Richard
Beckett and an own goal accounted for the strikes. Loddon them replied
in quick succession as Steven Nicholls grabbed a brace to reduce
the defecit. Opn going for an equaliser, Loddon got caught short
and Harrington netted his 2nd and Inters 4th of the game to finish
off any attempted comeback.
The
Birch faced up against 10 man Finchampstead Ath B but put in a solid
performance to come away with a 5-2 victory. Charlie Turner (2),
Tim Davies (2) and a Sam Jolley penalty saw The Birch take a 5-1
lead to the break. With the pressure off, The Birch eased up and
fired in shots from around the park with plenty of goal mouth action
leading to some fine saves and goal line clearances. No further
goals could be found for The Birch though. Dan Scott added to his
1st half strike to ease the woes for Finch.
4th
Division
AFC
Farmer overcame some suspicious officiating decisions to see off
opponents Atletico Reading 5-3 in an end to end game. Scott Taylor
and Gareth Evans (4) netted the Farmer goals, with Jamie France
(2) and Kieron Wiefer replying for Atletico.
In
what was a close but scrappy affair, Dukes Head managed to come
out on top against Axfield with a 1-0 score line. Pete Blackman
netted the all important goal late on for the home side to notch
3 points on the table for his team.
Berks
& Bucks Junior Cup – 2nd Round
In
an all Bracknell tie, Bracknell Royals from the1st division took
on The Old Manor from the 2nd. It was the 1st division side whom
triumphed eventually as The Old Manor went for broke late on. C
Lancaster opened the scoring for Royals, leaving Paul Brady to net
a free kick to level the scores. J Mullholland put Royals 2-1 up
before the break leaving Manor with it all to do. A spirited 2nd
half start saw Manor level the scores for a 2nd time before A Moore
fired Royals in front again with only a few minutes remaining in
the match. With Manor attempting to equalise for a 3rd time the
Royals attack finished the scoring as N Trenton made it 4-2 to the
home side. Royals advance to round 3.
FC
Fernhill showed their dominance against Reading outfit Aura as the
Bracknell side easily saw off any challenge and won the game 6-0.

Fernhill to send them sailing through to round 3 and join Royals
in the draw.
