Bracknell Town & District Sunday Football League
Match reports for all divisions & cup matches on 4th October 09

Premier Division

Only 1 game in the Premier today and this was between Crowthorne (The Prince) and Bracknell Cavaliers Old Boys. An even contest throughout saw Crowthorne finish the game with only 9 men after having used all subs and picking up 2 injuries late in the 2nd half. Cavaliers could not take advantage of this though and the game ended 0-0. Paul Bowles picks up the man of the match award for Crowthorne.

2nd Division

Woodley Hammers strikers Daniel Townson and Joe Ward were the difference in the game against Finmchampstead Ath A as their goals saw the home side win the game 2-0. Finch were frustrated with the lack of ‘cutting edge’ up front but played a good game none the less. Liam Simpkins takes man of the match for Woodley.

3rd Division

Bracknell Manics Res didn’t turn up today for their match against AFC Beechfleet and were punished with a 4-0 defeat. Liam Sherry, Andy Sweet, David Clifford and Jonathon Clifford all netted for Beechfleet. Both sides would like to wish Steve Leakey a speedy recovery as he was taken away from the match by air ambulance.

Finchampstead Ath B took a 1-0 lead to the break against The Birch thanks to a low struck shot from Ross Latimer. The Birch levelled the scores early in the 2nd half as Jim Austin struck from range and hit the back of the Finch net. Pushing for a winner, The Birch were caught out on a counter attack and undone by Darren Scott as he put Finch back into the lead. With a final push for an equaliser, Birch were again outdone as Scott netted his 2nd of the match to give Finch all 3 points and a 3-1 victory.

Syngenta amassed some good passing football today and reaped the benefits with a 5-3 victory over Queens Head. John Taylor, John Fox, Shane Ogle and Solomon all got on the score sheet for Syngenta, with James Oliver, Sam Bateman and Dave Pye replying for and improved Queens Head side.

Warfield United and Victoria Arms played out an evenly contested game with the home side just coming out on top with a 1-0 win thanks to a strike from captain Richie Cohen. Joe Tickner takes man of the match for Warfield.

Inter maintain their 100% start as they saw off Winkfield Res this week with a 3-1 score line. Tom Hobbs, Wayne Sandy and David Bird netted for Inter with Andy Reddish grabbing the solitary goal for Winkfield.

Calfridus Wanderers also maintained their 100% start to the season with a comfortable 4-0 win against FC Muchachos at Calfridus Way. Calfridus dominated the opening exchanges, combining well down both flanks and forcing a number of corners. Some excellent deliveries from Gawain Espley from the right saw the home side go close before Tim Lynam flicked on a corner from the other flank and Alex Croxford arched his neck to loop the ball into the top corner for 1-0. Calfridus continued to exert their aerial superiority as a Dan Hobson flick-on saw Mark Minors crash a volley off the top of the bar, and it wasn't long until the lead was extended - Hobson finding space at the back post to head home another corner. Into the second half and Muchachos failed to really threaten the scoreline. Things remained at 2-0 as Calfridus lacked the killer instinct, instead launching a number of long-range efforts high of the goal. With ten minutes remaining, Croxford picked up the ball just inside the Muchachos area and curled a shot over the keeper to make sure of the win. Then, with the game drawing to a close, substitute James Batty made it 3 goals in as many games, heading home from close range from yet another excellent Espley corner.

4th Division

Ashridge Park Res seemed to control the majority of their game against AFC Farmer, but lady luck was with the Farmer as the sides played out a 2-2 draw. Dan Sharrat and Adam Shoesmith twice shot Ashridge into the lead, but goals from Dan Walker and Gareth Evans squared things up at 90 minutes.

Atletico Reading and Axfield had the score going to and fro throughout the match, but it was the home side whom came out on top 5-4 at the whistle. FC Fernhill cruised to a 6-1 victory against Forest thanks to goals from Ben Knight (2), Sam Whiting, Kaine Paige, Rob Musson and Craig Masey.
