Manics kicked off and started brightly with good possession in the opening minutes. Winkfield closed down play quickly and the nerves settled after a few minutes of play with the 1st effort coming from Ashley Deutrom of Bracknell Manics as his shot on goal hit the post denying the opening goal after 10 minutes.

Having Sparked from the close shave, Winkfield drove the ball forward and pressed into the 18 yard box where Dan Sleet managed to get a final touch of the ball to strike the lead for Winkfield on 12 minutes.

This lead only lasted for a short time as Deutrom was felled in the Winkfield box allowing Lee Blackman to step up and score the equaliser on 20 minutes from the penalty spot as he sent the keeper the wrong way.

The game went back and forth for the remainder of the half with Winkfield having the best of the efforts on goal, most namely a long range effort by Ryan Coupland and a one on one by Lee Nevard whom hit the back of the net after lobbing the onrushing keeper, only to be called back for an offside decision.

Nevard also had a further opportunity as Gary Sarney misplaced a back pass allowing the Winkfield striker to again attempt a lob, this time for Simon Blay to head clear the danger. Sam Handley also had a chance on target, but this was cut short by Manics defender Matt Rain with a superbly timed challenge in the penalty area.

2ND HALF

Into the 2nd half and Manics quickly took the lead at 2-1 with Lee Blackman grabbing his 2nd of the game smashing home a 25 yard strike into the top corner of the net following neat work on the right wing from Deutrom.

The game settled down from the quick start and several chances went beckoning, mostly coming from Winkfield corner kicks. Luke Thorn swung in several corners upon which Sam Handley came closest just evading the upright.

A mis-timed tackle saw a free kick awarded near the half way line for Winkfield upon which Phil Boddy launched the ball into the Manics danger area, Kyle Bradley came for the ball but mistimed the flight and the ball landed at the feet of Lewis Wright whom struck Winkfield level at 2-2 on 62 minutes.

Chances came and went for both sides and within the final 10 minutes both sides pressed for what could be the winning strike. It was Winkfield whom struck a damage blow on 86 minutes when captain Andy Parslow slotted home with a left foot strike after a non cleared corner fell in his path thus giving a 3-2 lead with 5 minutes remaining.

Manics were not prepared to give up and the next corner that they won on 88 minutes saw Matt Rain latch onto the in-swinging cross from Glenn Evans to head an equaliser, which looked to be sending the game to extra time at 3-3.

This however was not true as Winkfield pressed forward again and found the back of the Manics net a minute later as Lewis Wright netted at the far post from a corner to regain the lead at 4-3. The last attempt came from Gareth Jones as he connected with the final corner of the match, looping the ball from the near post and landing on the top of the cross bar. The final whistle went and Winkfield celebrated a 4-3 victory after a very tense closing of the match.

Congratulations to both teams and of course the match officials Dennis Keen, Kieron Brown, Steve Borham and Richard Corbishly. John Bradley presented the teams with their trophies, with the man of the match accolade going to Lewis Wright of Winkfield.
