Bracknell Town & District Sunday Football League
Match reports for all divisions & cup matches on 22nd March 09

Premier Division

Bracknell Royals look destined to finish afoot the table as they were swept aside this week by Athletico Priestwood 6-0. Matt Davis, Daniel Wing, Jimmy Craske and Shane Levey (3) all netted to give Athletico the win. Crowthorne had an off day as they faced Wokingham United and were punished as the visitors left with a 4-1 win.

Martin Thain netted a tight finish for Crowthorne, but this was not enough to rival strikes from Pat Selby, Eddie Linsky, Ian Needon and a Grant Lewin spot kick.

Finchampstead have now given way to their unbeaten run as Emmbrook Inn took advantage of a depleted Finch line up. David Mills scored 1 and made the 2nd for Luke Lee to finish to wrap up the game 2-0. Emmbrook goal keeper John Digby took the man of the match award for his performance between the sticks.

1st Division

Keltar Old Boys found Finchampstead Ath Sun Res too much to handle as the visitors left the game with all 3 points and a 3-1 win. Ian Rose (2) and Matt Jones netted for Finch with Keltars goal coming by way of a Finch own goal.

Rides Utd had to conjure up some good play to deal with an early sending off against Sunninghill Athletic and finally leave the game with the points. Adam Knibbs gave Sunninghill the lead as he struck a scorching freekick straight into the back of the Rides net. Ashley Partridge (2) and Rob Jackson scored either side of the break to give Rides a 3-1 lead, only for Tony May and Kevin May to level the scores going into the closing minutes of the game. Rob Jackson stepped up and gave Rides a 4-3 victory after chasing down what looked to be a lost cause to slot past the onrushing keeper.

The Metropolitan played for the majority of the match a goal down as a Sean King freekick for FC Wokingham deflected off a Met defender and struck the back of the net. Carl Moran gave Metropolitan a share of the points as his 90th minute strike levelled the game at 1-1 before the final whistle.

Winkfield Sports started slowly and were punished early on as Steven Bell gave FC Priestwood an early lead. Sports soon found their rhythm though as Mark Brown and Adam Sharp reversed fortunes before the interval. Inspired sub Simon Phillips came from the bench to secure all 3 points for Winkfield as he hit a brace without reply to end the game 4-1.

Woodley Hammers and FC Diligent played out a top of the table clash that could decide where the title goes this season. Hammers dominated the 1st half as Sam Cialis netted a brace to give a 2-0 lead to the home side. Diligent did hit back before the break as Matt Davis struck the back of the net for the visitors. Although constant pressure occurred from Diligent during the 2nd half, they could not break down the Woodley defence and the nearest they came to equalising was hitting the post. Final score 2-1 to Woodley.

2nd Division

After an uneventful 1st half of play, 3M took the lead through Chris Mages as he connected with a corner to put Bracknell Galaxy on the back foot. Lots of chances came during the 2nd half, but only 1 of these was scored as Jason Parsons levelled the scores at 1-1 for Galaxy before the full time whistle blew.

AFC Dukes outgunned Prince by the odd goal in 7 during todays bottom of the table clash. Adam Clark, Mark Jalopy, John Carpenter and an own goal was just enough to see off strikes from Stuart Docherty (2) and Jay Barkes. Final score 4-3 to AFC Dukes.

John Wright gave Dukes Head a single goal lead against BMW as he struck early in the game. This lead was reversed during the remaining play of the 1st half as a Paul Sharman brace gave BMW a 2-1 lead at the break. Euan Wilson and Matt Ayers netted early in the 2nd half for BMW to extend the lead to 4-1, leaving Mark Sugars and Gary Porter to reply for Dukes and set up a tense closing of the match. No further goals were managed leaving the game to finish 4-3 to BMW.

FC Fernhill look certain to clinch the div 2 title as this week they brushed aside Woodley Hammers Res 6-2. Ben Knight (4), Sam Whiting and Rob Musson were all on target for Fernhill, with Pat Townsend (2) replying for Woodley.

Finchampstead Ath Sun A took the lead against AC Woodcutters as Andy Lewis struck a neat opening goal for the home side. Woodcutters reversed the score as Richard Docherty and Scott Caverman netted, leaving Carlos Lua to level the score before the interval. AC Woodcutters turned up the gas in the 2nd half as they scored a further 2 goals without reply to win the game 4-2. Lee Sadler netted both 2nd half goals in style, the 1st coming from a 30 yard right foot curler, the 2nd a 20 yard volley into the bottom corner of the net.

The Old Manor started slowly and were punished as Ashridge Park netted twice early on through Jon Austin to give a healthy lead. Billy Golding netted a brace for The Old Manor before the break to level things up. With time telling, Chris Blanchard forced a cross into The Old Manor’s penalty box and this was deflected off of defender Will Randall into his own net to give Ashridge Park a 3-2 win.

3rd Division

Cable & Wireless were outgunned by The Bridge as the visitors finished the game 3-1 winners. Tom Conway, Mark Harvey and Jay Tucker all netted for The Bridge, with Steve Heard grabbing a consolation goal for Cable.

Queens Head had the upper hand over Finchampstead Ath Sun B and made this work to their advantage as they came away from the game with a 2-1 win. Curtis Allgood and Dave Pye netted for the home side, leaving Dave Hormley to grab a consolation for Finch. Queens Head centre back Chris Davies grabbed the man of the match award for his efforts.

Now left to concentrate solely on the league table, The Royal Oak mad short work of Bracknell Manics Res after the deadlock was broken in the 70th minute. Tom Hobbs gave Oak the lead before Ricardo Gilda levelled for Manics. Hobbs grabbed his 2nd and 3rd of the game in the closing 5 minutes as Oak pressed for all 3 points and were rewarded from corner kicks to win the game 3-1.

After a messy start, FC Muchachos de Bracknell took the lead against Syngenta as a Richard Peek cross was met with a thunderous strike from Paul Russell. The celebrations were cut short though as a forced own goal was to account for Syngentas equaliser before the break. Lewis O’Conner gave Syngenta the lead early in the 2nd half as a neat touch and volley found the back of the Muchachos net. Daniel Russell restored order as he fired home a precision spot kick to level the game at 2-2, before ‘The Colonel’ Stuart Collar latched onto a Daniel Russell cross to fire a bullet header goal bound to give Muchachos a well deserved 3-2 lead. Syngenta then pressed the Muchachos back line, but could not break them down as the game closed out at 3-2.

Winkfield Res shot into a 3-1 1st half lead against Keephatch Park as their dominance showed during play. Adam Chance netted a brace, with the opener being an overhead kick from outside the box. Chris Hill also grabbed a goal from 30yards as he lobbed the Keephatch goalie to give the table toppers something to think about during the break. The 2nd half was a much different affair as Keephatch started playing and eventually condemned Winkfield to defeat as Andy Cheale netted a hat trick and Phil Tiernan scored twice to win the game 5-3 and keep hold of their 100% league winning record thus far.

4th Division

AFC Beechfleet found themselves on the back foot as Sam Williams and an own goal saw opponents Bagshot Road Res take an opening 2-0 lead. Beechfleet attempted a fightback to claim victory but could only manage to net twice from the large number of attempts they had on goal. Liam Sherry and Sean Dellar made sure that the points were shared at least with a score of 2-2.

Atletico Reading and AFC Farmer also had to settle for a point a piece as a draw looked the fair result for both teams. Jamie France scored for Atletico, with Gareth Evans netting for Farmer.

Loddon Valley Rangers found it tough going as FC A1 Group return to winning ways with a 8-1 demolition job. Adam Cornell (4), Mitchell Chesterman (2), Sam Stroud and Simon Farrell all hit the target for A1, with Francisco Ponce netting for Loddon.

Warfield United were moments from leaving the game with nothing against Rides United until a last minute goal prevailed from nowhere. Kevin Partridge netted for Rides after 20 mins as his free kick was fumbled by the Warfield keeper. The game was then looking to be shut out until Richard Webb netted in the 90th minute to rescue a point for Warfield and stun Rides. Final score 1-1.

William Twigg Res grabbed a well fought 4-0 win over Axfield with Danny Green (2), Mark Johnson and Daniel Barnes all hitting the back of the net.

Bracknell Sunday Football League Senior Cup – Semi Final

Bracknell Manics shot out of the blocks to race to a 4-0 lead during the 1st half against opponents Bagshot Road to seal their place in the cup final. A Lee Blackman hat trick and a Gavin Baker strike was enough to have Bagshot on the back foot from the off. Simon Blay added to the tally for Manics in the 2nd half but the clean sheet was spoilt by Colin Hutchins of Bagshot as he struck a consolation goal for the visitors, leaving the game to end 5-1 to the Manics. This now sets up a Senior Cup Final tie of Winkfield v Bracknell Manics.
