Match reports for all divisions & cup matches on 1st March 09

Premier Division

Bagshot Road have a weekend to forget after Crowthorne (The Prince) managed to net 13 goals during the game. Debutant Nick Trentini bagged 6 goals with Dale Clark (5) and Kevin Lee grabbing the others for Crowthorne. Final score 13-3 to Crowthorne.

Bracknell Royals fought well against a depleted William Twigg Albion side whom had to call up players from the reserves to cover injuries. This seemed to work well for the visitors as both youngsters managed to get on the score sheet for the table toppers. Jack Davis, Josh Delander and Lee Moseley all netted to give the Twigg a 3-0 victory.

Emmbrook Inn were left standing as Athletico Priestwood add further points to the board in a 3-1 win. Shane Levey, Harry Levey and Mike Gooch netted the all important goals with Kevin Prenitt taking the man of the match accolade in his 1st full game for the club.

Finchampstead Ath finally lose out on their unbeaten run as Wokingham United took their chances when offered to win the tie 5-2. Jenner and Wright scored for the home side, with Darren Thorne (2), Pat Selby (2) and a Grant Lewin penalty giving Wokingham all 3 points.

Green Man could have been left ruing missed opportunities had they not have won their game against Winkfield 2-1. Fortunately for the home side, Paul Danes bagged a brace to give them the victory they were looking for and allowed the numerous other opportunities that went begging to be forgotten.

1st Division

FC Priestwood edge out Sunninghill Athletic after shaky last 15 minutes caused the home side to wobble a little. Priestwood took a 3-0 lead through Alex Eastman (2) and Keith Honey leaving Athletic with all the work to do. They went for broke in the final 15 mins and netted twice with goals from Danny Teeder and Adam Knibbs but could not find the illusive equaliser before the full time whistle although chances were available. Final score 3-2 to Priestwood.

FC Wokingham had to endure half an hour of play with only 9 men against Rides Utd as Jay White and Barry Agar clashed heads whilst going for the same ball. The pair had to be taken to hospital, and with no subs Wokingham had to continue without them. Up to that point Wokingham held a 2-1 lead with goals from Sean King and Royston Atkinson and looked in charge of proceedings. Rob Jackson delivered the killer blow for Rides though as he netted a hat trick for the visitors to give Rides a 3-2 win. Wokingham could have still won the match, but hit the woodwork no less than 4 times and had a penalty which was missed. Best wishes go to Barry and Jay for a quick recovery.

Winkfield Sports took the lead against FC Diligent as Ollie O’Rawe netted for the home side in the 1st half. Into the 2nd and Diligent changed formation to counter the opposition and eventually came out on top with Richard Bland and Jack Steadman netting the winning goals to give Diligent all 3 points with a 2-1 score line.

Wokingham Wanderers and The Metropolitan battled to the end and had to settle for a share of the points in a 4-4 draw. Anthony Prior (2), Paul Martin and Tom Soane all scored for Wanderers, with Liam Want (2), Wayne Carter and Carl Moran replying for The Met. The battle heated up in the last 5 mins as the lead changed hands twice before the draw was settled upon.

Woodley Hammers took an early lead against Keltar Old Boys as Joe Hill netted from close range to give the home side full advantage. Neil Robinson made sure of all 3 points as the game proceeded by bagging a brace with a header and a stunning volley from range to kill off any Keltar opportunities. Keltar did net a consolation in the 89th minute, but the score ended 3-1 to Woodley.

2nd Division

3M hosted BMW and although the home side took an early lead through Chris Stark, it was the visitors whom turned on the pressure as Rory McGill and Martin Smith (2) gave BMW a commanding lead. 3M didn’t give up the ghost though and kept pressing forward at the BMW defence with rewards coming frequently during the 2nd half. Chris Stark netted a further 4 goals before the final whistle to give 3M all 3 points in a 5-3 victory. This was a great achievement for Chris as he usually plays at centre back!

Bracknell Galaxy found themselves winning comfortably against Ashridge Park as goals kept flowing for the home side. Steve Champion (2), Daniel Howard, Craig Newell, Robbie Redding and a Kelvin May penalty was enough to give the home side a 6-0 victory.

The Prince bad run of form continues as they were condemned to yet another defeat, this time at the hands of Woodley Hammers Res. Joe Ward (2), Adam Richardson and Ashley Heather all netted for Woodley in this 4-1 win, with George Hobden netting a consolation goal for Prince. Jeff Mohan takes man of the match award for Woodley.

3rd Division

Bracknell Manics Res started brightly against Inter, but couldn’t get the ball into the final third of the pitch to create any opportunities. Fortunately for the home side, Inter didn’t have their shooting boots on and were punished when Manics finally had an attempt on goal from a set piece. John Brussel scored the only goal of the game to give Manics all 3 points.

Cable and Wireless almost threw away all the hard work done in the 1st half by Alex Cookson (2) and Alex Turtan as opponents Queens Head battled hard in the 2nd half. Kieron Painter and Curtis Allgood netted for Queens Head, but no equaliser could be found as Cable take the 3-2 win.

The Bridge controlled the majority of their match against Syngenta and the scoreline backed this up as they won the game 4-1. Dave Brown and Jamie Tucker (3) did enough to see off any threat that Syngenta posed before a consolation goal was netted by Dave Eastern.

Victoria Arms found themselves under the cosh as opponents Royal Oak continue their fine run of form in league and cup. Richard Massingham, Andy Wells and Tom Hobbs gave the visitors all 3 points with a 3-0 win.

4th Division

AFC Farmer had The Birch on the back foot straight from the whistle as the front line managed 2 quick goals within the opening 10 mins as Gareth Evans netted a brace. The lead was halved as Jamie Austin netted from a set piece to give The Birch some momentum. This however was cut short as Farmer regained their 2 goal advantage before the break with Lee Fleming chipping the keeper from a solo run. Into the 2nd half and The Birch managed to level things up at 3-3 with goals from Charlie Turner and a Jamie Austin penalty. Farmer made use of a counter attack and took the lead again at 4-3 as Aaron Timms rounded The Birch keeper to slot home from close range. Jamie Austin completed his hat trick for The Birch scoring from inside the box as he shot across the goal into the bottom corner to level the game at 4-4 which is how it stayed.

Axfield are starting to come out of their shell and this week gave Warfield United something to think about as shots kept finding the back of the net at both ends. Carl Brahms (2) and Richard Levens netted for Axfield only for Alex Mellor, Nick Shears, Richard Webb and James Knight to give Warfield a narrow 4-3 victory. Joe Tickner takes man of the match for Warfield as he had a superb game at full back.

Bagshot Road Res were pegged back a little as Atletico Reading continue to climb the table with a 5-2 victory. Sam Williams grabbed both goals for Bagshot, with Kieron Weefer (3), Andrew Nealon and Andrew Portford netting for Atletico.

FC A1 Group continue with a 100% winning streak in the league as they made short work of Bracknell Badgers this week. Mitchell Chesterman, Dan Jewell, Paul Hicks, Adam Cornell and Sam Stroud all netted to give FC A1 a 5-0 win.

Red Star battled well but could not hold off the advances of William Twigg Res as the visitors won the game 4-2 with goals from Billy Morten, Billy Docherty and Darren Knapp (2).

Rides Utd Res and Lodden Valley Rangers take a point a piece as the game ended 2-2. Duncan Cantwell gave Lodden the lead, leaving Mark Smith and Dale Morrison to reverse the advantage for Rides. Lodden striker Matthew Bradbrook popped up on the final 5 mins to net an equaliser for the visitors leaving the draw being the fairest result on the day.

BDSL Junior League Cup

Keephatch Park made short work of The Old Manor as the visitors had a bad day at the office. Adam Lawson (2), Andrew Cheale, Phil Tiernan and Liam Davies all netted for Keephatch to send them through to the semi finals.

Finchampstead Ath Res are looking to compete in the final for a 2nd consecutive year as they saw off AFF Beechfleet 1-0 with a goal from Ian Rose. Finch will now face Keephatch Park in the semi final.

Winkfield Res knock AC Woodcutters out of the competition with a 3-2 victory thanks to goals from Stuart Prendergast, Oliver Knowles and a Mark Campbell penalty.

A very physical Dukes Head could not stop the attack of FC Fernhill as the visitors went on to win the game 3-0 with strikes from Sam Whiting, Ben Knight and Matthew Lindstrom. Adam Emptage takes man of the match for Fernhill. The 2nd semi final will be contested between Winkfield Res and FC Fernhill for a spot in the final.
