Bracknell Town & District Sunday Football League
Match reports for all divisions & cup matches on 16th November 08

Premier Division

Athletico Priestwood found themselves at the wrong end of a 6-1 score line as Winkfield made use of their chances in the game today. Mike Gooch put Priestwood 1 up but they soon found themselves struggling as everything Winkfield struck seemed to hit the back of the net. Lee Nevard (3), Dan Sleet, Ed Carpenter and Ryan Coupland all scored for Winkfield.

Bracknell Royals and Bracknell Manics battled through a tough game and ended up sharing the points in a 3-3 draw. Gareth Jones, Gary Sarney and an own goal helped Manics into a 3-1 lead, but conceding 2 goals in 2 minutes gave the advantage away and set up a tense closing to the match.

Crowthorne fired themselves into a 2-0 lead through Dale Clark as they had league leaders William Twigg on the back foot for the majority of the game. Twigg did start firing on all cylinders though with 20 minutes remaining and struck home 4 goals without reply to win the tie 4-2 and extend their impressive points total in the league. Scott Williams (2), Gary Sergeant and Janie Docherty accounted for the Twigg goals.

Emmbrook Inn and Green Man had chances a plenty but neither could take full advantage during the game as the points were shared at 90 minutes having ended in a 1-1 draw. Debutant Harry Scope netted for Emmbrook, whilst Adam Paris lobbed the keeper for the Green Man equaliser.

1st Division

FC Priestwood saw off the advances of opponents Sandhurst Social and came away with a 3-1 victory. Ryan Webb did the damage for Priestwood as he fired home a hat trick to seal the win.

2nd Division

AFC Dukes and The Old Manor shared a crazy 20 minute start to their match today as both teams netted 3 goals a piece during this time. Billy Golding (2) and an OG saw The Old Manor take the lead 3 times leaving Ricky Keeley (2) and Andy Fraser to pull back the score each time. Shortly after these goals, an injury caused the game to be delayed for treatment giving both teams time to cool down a little. Once restarted, The Old Manor took the lead for the 4th time through Ben Ardron, only for John Carpenter to level the scores once again. The match ended 4-4 with both teams claiming poor defending cost them the full 3 points.

The Dukes Head were put onto the back foot from the kick off as opponents AC Woodcutters took a 3 goal lead via Sean Watson (2) and an OG. Taking their foot off the gas, Woodcutters soon found themselves under pressure from the advancing front line of the Dukes Head attack. Stuart Halliday and Lee Thomas scored a goal a piece for Dukes to end the half 3-2. Into the 2nd half and Halliday and Thomas combined again with a goal each to take the lead for the 1st time at 4-3. In the closing moments of the match Woodcutters were awarded a penalty which was superbly saved by Russell Brain, giving the victory to Dukes Head.

Finchampstead Athletic A went down 2-0 to Bracknell Galaxy with Steve Champion netting both goals for Galaxy. Prince enjoyed their 1st win of the season as they vented their frustration onto opponent 3M. Jay Barkes (2), Lee Doyle (2) and Bernie Mcdonagh (2) all helped Prince to victory as Pete Bralet and Bill Bailey replied for 3M. Final score 6-2 to Prince with Kai Barkes getting man of the match for Prince.

3rd Division

FC Muchachos de Bracknell and Winkfield Res were left scratching their heads as the referee seemed to make several controversial decisions unknown to any player on the pitch. Winkfield profited from these decisions and went on the win the fixture 4-0 as Mark Campbell (3) and Nick Mullett netted for the visitors.

Keephatch Park continue their unbeaten run as this week they disposed of Syngenta 4-1. Liam Davies (3) and Phil Tiernan eased the home side into a 4-0 lead, until a 25 yard free kick was struck home by Shane Ogle of Syngenta to ease the suffering of the visitors

Royal Oak claim all 3 points as they saw off The Bridge 3-0.

Victoria Arms never seemed to get started as they went down 5-2 to Bracknell Manics Res. Graham McDonald, Henry Abrahamian, Brian Judge, Colin Pike and Ricardo Gilda all netted for the victors as the dominating 1st half paid off.

4th Division

AFC Farmer started well but couldn’t hold off the advances of William Twigg Res for long. Jack Davis, Darryl Baker (2), Darren Knapp and John Mulholland all netted for the visitors, with Aaron Timms getting Farmers solitary strike in this 5-1 Twigg victory.

Bagshot Road Res left Axfield standing as they eased through this match to a 8-0 win. Lee Barefoot, Charlie Koy, Chris Willis, Sam Williams (2), John Hindley and Rick Shaw (2) all scored for the home side.

3 late goals saw Loddon Valley Rangers take all 3 points from Red Star as the score ended 3-1. Red Star took the lead via Peter Sokolovsky, leaving Loddon with all the work to do. Red Star soon found themselves struggling as 2 outfield players picked up injuries, but had to continue due to player numbers. Loddon took advantage and fired 3 goals in the final 10 minutes thanks to Duncan Cantwell (2) and Jake Wheeler to take maximum points today.

Rides United Res made light work of Bracknell Badgers as the home side won the game 6-1. Rob Jackson (2), Luke Downes, Luke Openshaw and Dan Leyton Smith all netted for Rides with Jamie O Donnell scoring for Badgers.

Warfield United were undone from the off by potential title chasers FC A1 Group as the visitors left with all 3 points and a 8-0 win. Adam Cornell (3), Paul Hicks (2), Steve Bland, Mitchell Chesterman and Paul Hamilton all doing the damage for A1.

Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup 2nd Round

Wokingham United lost out to Microblast United as they went down 5-3. Pat Selby netted all 3 goals for Wokingham, but this was not enough to see them into round 3 this time.

Berks & Bucks Junior Cup 2nd Round

Winkfield Sports exit the cup after Wokingham & Emmbrook took the game 2-1. Sports found themselves 1-0 up at the interval only to concede twice in the 2nd half to reverse the scores and ultimately exit the competition.

FC Fernhill keep the Bracknell flag flying high as they advance to round 3 having seen off any advances from Loxwood Park Rangers by winning the tie 6-1. Ben Knight (2), Rob Musson (2), Sam Whiting and Matt Lindstrom all netted for Fernhill with Ben Knight taking man of the match in this very physical game.

Ashridge Park crashed out of the cup on the wrong side of a 6-2 score line against Eastern Rangers. Ben Pile and Jon Austin netted for Ashridge.

The Metropolitan also exit the cup as they lost out 4-1 to DC Steamers.

Berks & Bucks Junior Trophy 2nd Round

Cable & Wireless couldn't make it past the second round of the Berks & Bucks Junior Trophy after losing a fiercely contested match in Burghfield. Goals either side of the break from Mike Darby and Simon Gregory weren't enough to see Cable through, final score RCSSA 3, Cable & Wireless 2.
