Premier
Division
Athletico Priestwood and Bracknell Manics played a close game, despite
the score ending 6-1 to Priestwood. Danny Wing and Callum Whitty
(2) scored late in the 1st half to take a 3-0 lead to the interval
which saw heads drop on the Manics side. Into the 2nd half Mike
Gooch, Charlie Everson and debutant Darren Nasser scored further
goals for Priestwood whilst Manics could only net once through Matt
Rain. The score could have been higher if not for the efforts of
Manics keeper Kyle Bradley.
Emmbrook
Inn and Bagshot Road took a half a piece and ended the game with
a 3-3 draw. Emmbrook stormed into a 3-0 lead, capitalising on a
stretched Bagshot Road side. Luke Lee, Zac Dimitrovski and a 20
yard top corner strike from David Mills gave the home side the advantage
at the break. All Change in the 2nd half and it was Bagshot whom
applied the pressure leading to John Hindley striking the ball cleanly
into the top corner of the Emmbrook net from outside the box. Brian
Murphy scored with a 30 yard free kick to reduce the deficit, minutes
later scoring the equaliser to level the match and complete a spirited
comeback.
Finchampstead
Athletic saw off the advances of Winkfield and managed to grab a
2-0 victory thanks to Harry Swabey netting a brace.
Green
Man were outplayed from the off by a strong William Twigg side whom
showed no signs of backing down. Gary Sergeant (2), Danny Macarthy
(2), Mick Havermans and Joel Havermans all scored for the Twigg
in this 6-0 victory.
2nd
Division
Finchampstead Athletic A came from a goal down to level things up
prior to the final whistle after Woodley Hammers Res had led the
majority of the game. Hammers took the lead in the 19th minute when
Adam Richardson struck home after some well worked play through
the park. Ian Rose levelled the score in the 2nd half to take a
share of the points to the table. Final score 1-1.
3rd
Division
Bracknell
Manics started brightly against Victoria Arms and were rewarded
with an early goal through Chris Mitchell. Victoria Arms came back
strong and replied twice through Kwarme Appiah to take a lead to
the break. This lead was extended to 3-1 in the 2nd half after Steven
Wheels struck home from close range. The game changed when Rob Prior
of Victoria Arms saw red after his 2nd bookable offence, which allowed
Manics to come back into the match as Chris Mitchell grabbed a 2nd
and Kevin Blanchflower levelled things up at 3-3. The game looked
over until Elliot Wakefield popped up with the winner for Victoria
Arms close to the death to give his side all 3 points and a 4-3
victory.
Leaders
continue their good run of form, this week seeing off FC Muchachos
de Bracknell 5-0. Rob Wilcock (2), Richard Massingham, Baker and
Saunders all got on the score sheet for Leaders as they take another
3 points to the league table. FC Muchachos could have combated against
the opposition if they could find their shooting boots in front
of goal.
Inter
went down to a strong Cable & Wireless performance as the visitors
made advantage of the 2 penalty kicks they had to take a 5-2 victory
in this game. Craig Murphy (3), Keith Halifax and Andy King all
netted for Cable, with Steve Mayeur grabbing both for Inter.
Keephatch
Park lead from the off as they saw off Finchampstead Athletic B
7-0. After leading 1-0 at the break, Keephatch pushed on in the
2nd half and dominated for the remainder of the match. Liam Davies
(2), Andy Cheale (2), Adam Lawson, Chris Julian and Steve Burshill
all scoring for the home side.
Syngenta
could not stop opposition Queens Head from taking all 3 points this
week as Keiron Painter netted a hat trick for the visitors to continue
their unbeaten start to the league. Syngenta were rewarded with
a strike from a John Lister free kick which sailed into the bottom
right hand corner, but this was not enough as Queens Head ended
up 3-1 winners.
The
Bridge overcame a goal deficit to take a 3-1 win against Winkfield
Res. Adam Chance put Winkfield into the lead, but the team fell
asleep after a short while. Dan Money, Rob Hall-Crow and Jack Musgrove
all netted for Bridge to see off Winkfield.

Division
FC
A1 Group outclassed Warfield United to take a 5-0 victory. Adam
Cornell, Phil Ollive and Steve Bland (2) all netted for the home
side during this win. Axfield fell again this week, this time losing
out 10-1 to William Twigg Res. Sean Droney capitalised on a rare
piece of neat passing play to score a consolation for the home side,
but the damage had already been done by Billy Morten (5), Jim Mulholland
(2), Jack Davis, Daniel Barnes and Mark Murphy, Twigg being far
too strong for the home side.
Bagshot
Road Res battled well against AFC Farmer despite having only 10
men for their fixture. Neither side could be separated at the whistle
as the game ended 4-4 with Sam Williams, Dave Simmons and Chris
Willis (2) netting for Bagshot whilst James Blackman, Gareth Evans
(2) and Matt Cole replied for Farmer to earn them their 1st point
of the season.
Bracknell
Badgers out played table toppers Red Star as they ran home 7-3 winners.
Jamie O’Donnell (4), Stuart Gillet (2) and Michael Towler
all finding the back of the net for the Badgers.
The
Birch had to come from behind twice this week to eventually overcome
visitors Loddon Valley Rangers 6-4. Craig Lyden put Loddon ahead
after breaking the back line and slotting the ball under the onrushing
keeper. Birch responded as Charlie Turner netted from close range
to tie things up, only for Birch to concede again before the break
as the ball deflected off of Kyle Turners back to wrong foot the
Birch keeper to go 2-1 down. After a stern half time team talk,
things turned around and Birch netted 3 quick goals to take the
lead for the first time at 4-2 as Jamie Austin, Daniel Risby and
a 20yard strike from Danny Jones all found the back of the net.
Loddon pulled 1 back as Duncan Campwell converted a spot kick to
make it 4-3. A half way line free kick was lofted into the box for
the Birch by Danny Jones which was met by the head of a Loddon Valley
defender whom put it past his own keeper to make it 5-3. Matthew
Bradbrook then replied for Loddon, only for Birch to score again
through Jamie Austin to take the final score to 6-4. This win sees
The Birch take maximum points out of their 4 league fixtures this
season.
Berks
& Bucks Intermediate Cup 1st Round
After
last weeks wash out, Wokingham United met Crowthorne (the prince)
whom were depleted by injury and absence. Nevertheless Crowthorne
took the lead as Martin Thain found the net with a powerful header.
Wokingham shot back before the interval through Darren Thorne (2)
to take a slender lead to the 2nd half. Stuart Napper extended the
home sides advantage for a short while, until Paul Brady from Crowthorne
cut the deficit by converting a spot kick for the visitors. Pat
Selby made sure of the win as he completed the scoring, making the
final score 4-2 to Wokingham which sees them into the 2nd round.
Berks
& Bucks Junior Cup 1st Round
Woodley
Hammers travelled to County Arms of Reading for their fixture this
week and came away with a spot in the 2nd round after seeing off
the home side. County Arms took an early 2-0 lead, leaving work
to do for the visitors. Neal Robinson levelled the scores after
he netted a brace, whilst Sam Cialis and Graham Dew extended the
lead for Woodley to 4-2. A momentary lapse saw County Arms grab
a last minute goal and cause panic the dying seconds, but Woodley
rode it out to win the fixture 4-3.
Winkfield
Sports made hard work of their fixture as Wokingham Wanderers looked
sure to advance to the next round. The lead swung back and forth
between the two clubs leaving Wokingham eventually leading the fixture
4-3 going into the dying seconds of the game. A mistake by Nick
Harding allowed Winkfield to equalise right before the whistle to
take the game into extra time at 4-4. This giving the home side
a lift, Winkfield then went on to grab an extra time winner through
Andrew Sharp which saw Wokingham exit the cup. Ian Fellows, Danny
Phillips, Glen Holden and Simon Phillips accounted for Winkfields
further strikes, with Alex Kelly, Steve Campbell, Tom Soane and
an Own Goal tallying for Wokingham.
Sunninghill
Athletic ruled the 1st half of the game against FC Wokingham and
were rewarded with a 1-0 lead at the break. Whether it be a stern
talking to for Wokingham or the home side falling apart, FC Wokingham
annihilated Sunninghill in the 2nd half to finish the match 8-1
winners. Sean King (4), Mo Zagbani (2), Vinnie Bond and Kylo Atkinson
all scoring for FC Wokingham.
Bracknell
Galaxy bow out of the cup at the first hurdle as FC Ole proved too
strong and went away with a 6-1 win over the Bracknell side. Kelvin
May netted the only goal for Galaxy.
Earley
United knocked out Finchampstead Athletic Res as they scored 4 times
without reply to see off the visitors.
Keltar
Old Boys met up with FC Fernhill and were put to the sword as the
home side could not stop the younger team from dominating proceedings.
Sam Whiting (3), Ben Knight (2), Jamoe Osbourne, Matthew Lindstrom
and an Own Goal accounted for the strikes in this 8-0 win. Scott
Whiting takes the plaudits for a dominating role in the centre of
the park for Fernhill.
FC
Priestwood came away from Kennet Valley down beaten after the home
side saw off the visitors 5-0. AC Woodcutters also exit the cup
after Fox & Hounds saw off the solitary spot kick from Gavin
Holt to win the game 6-1.
Prince
played out a tough game against Woodlands and stood a good chance
for the majority of the match as Bernie McDonagh kept the game at
1-1 after his strike found the net. If not for a mistake in the
back line the result could have differed, but it is Woodlands whom
progress 2-1.
Wokingham
& Emmbrook saw off visitors 3M comfortably 7-0.
Rides
United could not overcome the Reading outfit Loddon Valley Rangers
as they away side took the game 4-2. Rides scorers were Steven Hitchin
and Rob Jackson.
MOD
took fortune from their play as they saw off The Old Manor in the
closing moments of the match after a deflection saw the ball end
up in the Manor net to give a final score of 3-2 to MOD. After seeing
MOD take a 2-0 lead, Manor levelled things up as Paul Brady netted
a brace, the first capitalising upon a mix up at the back, but the
second a quality lob over the keeper. Ben Ardron takes man of the
match for Manor.
The
Metropolitan advance to the next round after a stunning performance
saw them overcome Deportivo La Star 3-1. The score could have been
more if Metro had their shooting boots on today.
AFC
Dukes exit the competition after Meridian saw off the visitors 5-1.
DC
Steamers took on Bracknell side Dukes Head and had a tough game
on their hands. The lead in this match swung back and forth as Gary
Porter (2), Lee Thomas and Grant Pagdan all netted to take a final
score of 4-4 in this match. As no further goals were scored in extra
time, the game advanced to penalties, upon which Dukes Head bow
out after losing out 5-4 during the spot kicks.
Eastern
Rangers sneaked a late goal but deserved to win 3-2 against BMW
during this well fought match. Rory McGill scored both BMW goals
but could not find an equaliser toward the end of the game.
Berks
& Bucks Junior Trophy 1st Round
Atletico
Reading from the Bracknell 4th division played host to Reading outfit
Roundhead Athletic during this tie. Atletico took a 4-0 lead in
the match as Nick Barnes and Andrew Crawford both netted braces
for their team. Roundhead fought back well and forced Adam Worthington
to score at the death to enforce extra time in this match with the
final score at 90 minutes being 5-5. With legs tiring Atletico were
outgunned in extra time 9-7 as Mark Sturgess and a superb 35yard
free kick goal from the left wing by James Sturgess was not enough
to stop the visitors from progressing to the next round.
