Woodley Hammers took on The Metropolitan in worsening conditions
on a wet day. The Metropolitan dominated the possession of the play
but could not finish their chances and ended up losing out to Woodley
2-1. Neal Robinson and Rob Timbers scoring for Woodley with Wayne
Carter on target for The Metropolitan.
FC
Priestwood were out shot against opponents Winkfield Sports as the
visitors took the points away with a 2-1 win. Adam Smith scored
for the home side whilst Adam Sharpe and Anthony Wilkinson gave
Sports the victory.
FC
Diligent put in an outstanding performance in the 2nd half to see
off opponents Sunninghill Athletic 7-1. Diligent led 1-0 at the
interval but Sunninghill went to pot in the 2nd half as the home
side netted a further 6 goals to the tally, whilst conceding only
once in the game. Matt Davis (3), Richard Bland (2), Mark Parnell
and Jack Steadman all scored for Diligent, with Steve Mahoney netting
a consolation goal for Sunninghill.
Keltar
Old Boys were seen off by the advances of Rides United as the home
side fell foul of a 5-1 score line. Adam Lee netted the goal for
Keltar, but this was not enough as the visitors scored through Ashley
Partridge (2), Kevin Partridge, Adam Phillips and a 35yard effort
from Rob Jackson.
Wokingham
Wanderers changed things up by playing some new players this week
and were outgunned despite their efforts by Finchampstead Athletic
Sunday Res 2-1. Chris Hillsdon headed home the solitary goal for
Wanderers, but Ian Rose and Anthony Parsons made sure that Finch
took away all 3 points from the fixture.
2nd
Division
Woodley Hammers started as they meant to continue by scoring within
the opening minute with a half way line lob against opponents AFC
Dukes. This goal put doubt in the minds of the Dukes players and
further mistakes were inevitable. Woodley continued dominating throughout
the game and ran home eventual 5-1 winners with Joe Ward (2), Adam
Richardson, Charlie Gale and Ian Sellers all scoring. Andy Frazer
netted the consolation for Dukes.
3M
saw off the advances of Finchampstead Athletic Sunday A to win the
fixture 1-0 with Martin Earl netting the solitary goal of the game.
Ashridge
Park and BMW cancelled each other out in what was definitely a game
of two halves. Ashridge took the lead and the goals in the 1st half
as Sean McAllister and Ben Pile gave the home side a 2-0 lead at
the interval. Into the 2nd half and roles were reversed as Matt
Ayres and Alex Couto grabbed goals for BMW in this fight back to
level the game at 2-2 before the final whistle.
Dukes
Head put in a commanding 1st half performance to help win the match
4-2 against The Old Manor. Dukes led from the off and went in to
the break 4-0 up with goals from Daniel McCloud (2), John Wright
and Stuart Halliday. The Manor managed to pull back a couple of
goals in the 2nd half through Billy Golding and Paul Grady, but
they couldn’t push on any further to chip away at the goal
difference.
FC
Fernhill outshot and outplayed opponents AFC Woodcutters as the
home side ran away with the points in a 6-1 win. Fernhill scorers
were Sam Whiting and Ben Knight whom both grabbed hat tricks for
their side.
Prince
and Bracknell Galaxy played out a tough contest with Galaxy just
edging out the home side for the points. Steve Champion and Craig
Newell scored for the visitors, whilst Jay Barkes was on target
for Prince. Final score 2-1 to Bracknell Galaxy.
4th
Division
William
Twigg Res and Loddon Valley Rangers were the only sides to compete
in this league today, and it was the Twigg whom came away with the
points in a 7-1 victory. Danny Green (2), Paul Cousins, John Mulholland,
Bill Morten, Mark Murphy and Billy Doherty all scored for Twigg,
with Glenn Wheeler getting the solitary goal for Rangers.
Berks
& Bucks Intermediate Cup 1st Round
Green
Man took on the winners of last years competition in that of Stevie
B’s from Reading. Green Man felt the full weight of the attack
from the visitors as they crashed out of the cup 6-1 with Paul Davis
grabbing the solitary goal. The tally could have been higher if
not for the Green Man keeper being on form.
Winkfield
also take an early bath from the cup as opponents Bulmershe Old
boys took the game 3-2. James Ewart and Ryan Coupland netting the
goals for Winkfield.
Athletico
Priestwood travelled to Reading for their fixture against Southside
(Reading) and were treated to a trip to the 2nd round as they saw
off the home side 2-1. Danny Wing and Mike Gooch sending the Bracknell
side through with goals for Priestwood.
Bagshot
Road looked down and out against Richfield Rovers as the away side
led the game 3-1 from early on. It took a spirited comeback and
a 25 yard volley to turn things around for the home side as they
eventually won the game 4-3 with strikes from Danny Chambers (3)
and Dan Lewendon.
The
result tells its own story as Bracknell Manics exit the cup as Old
Windsor FC scored 11 times without reply to see off the Bracknell
side 11-0.
William
Twigg look on form to attempt the repeat the trophy win of 2006
as they started with a comprehensive 8-0 win against Shinfield British
Legion. Gary Sergeant (5) and Scott Williams (3) grabbing the all
important goals for the home side.
Finchampstead
Athletic were seen off in round 1 by opponents Woodley Saints with
a score of 3-1 to the visitors.
Berks
& Bucks Junior Trophy 1st Round
Syngenta
progress to round 2 after seeing off FC Muchachos de Bracknell 4-0.
With 2 goals in each half, Syngenta looked on top from the offset,
whilst Muchachos could not find their shooting boots again this
week. Shane Ogle (2), John Collinson and Pete Attenborough all scored
for the home side.
Cable
& Wireless dominated Brewery Tap from the first whistle at Kings
Meadow. Man of the match Craig Murphy grabbed a first half hat-trick,
including one from the penalty spot as Cable overawed the Reading
side. The away team were 5 goals up at half time, thanks to strikes
from Craig Murphy (3), Tim Lynam and Mark Minors. Andrew King was
also instrumental in midfield, with some excellent distribution
to hard working wide men Alex Turton and Steven Herd. The home side
managed to get a fortunate consolation halfway through the second
half, as the ball cannoned off a Cable defender and went into the
top corner to the despair of goalkeeper Steve Close. However, it
was the Bracknell side that were to have the last say, with Keith
Halifax slotting home from 6 yards. Final score, Brewery Tap 1,
Cable & Wireless 6.
Rides
Utd Res capitalised on 2 early goals to see off an under performing
Birch team at cantley park. Rides took the lead in the opening minutes
as Gareth Wills netted from close range. Shortly after, Mark Smith
lobbed the Birch keeper from 25 yards to double the lead. Birch
hit back just before the half as Simon Edwards crossed from the
by-line for Charlie Turner to slide through and hit the back off
the net from close range to take the half time score to 2-1. Into
the 2nd half and Rides further worked the Birch back line and were
rewarded as Mark Smith and John Downes added to the tally, capitalising
upon defensive mistakes with close range strikes to stretch the
lead to 4-1. Birch had a penalty awarded with 10 minutes left, but
the Rides keeper duly saved the spot kick and summed up a poor showing
from the home side. Rides continue into round 2 with a rightful
4-1 win.
Red
Star could not see off the advances from visitors Leaders as they
bombarded the Red Star back line in a 7-0 win. Danny Baker (2),
Tom Hobbs (2), Richard Massingham, Andy Wells and Robert Wilcox
all scored for Leaders in this very one sided affair.
Winkfield
Res travelled to Caversham AFC and came away with a win in difficult
conditions. The game finished 3-3 at full time with Chris Hill netting
a hat trick. Extra time was played and still no winner could be
decided as the score ended 4-4 with Kevin Delaney getting the goal.
Into Penalties, and it was a case of pot luck for a passage to round
2. Fortunately for the visitors their keeper was on the ball and
managed to stop a stop kick so that Winkfield could take a 5-4 penalty
win in this match.
Bracknell
Manics Res saw off The Bridge to progress to round 2 with a score
of 2-1. John Brussell and Chris Mitchell netted for Manics in this
dominating performance, with Henry Abrahamian grabbing the man of
the match title for Manics.
Queens
Head saw off the Windsor Warriors 3-0 as Kieron Painter grabbed
a hat trick for the Bracknell side in this close game.
Keephatch
Park also progress as they outgunned opponents Maidenhead Revolution
6-3 with strikes from Liam Davies (4), Andy Chill and Matt Whale.
Finchampstead
Athletic Sunday A bow out of the trophy as Chalfont Park overcame
the home side 3-0.
Warfield
United make way for AFC Beechfleet to progress as the visitors saw
off the home side 3-1. Nick Sheers was on target for Warfield, but
this was not enough for the home side to progress. James Knight
gets Man of the Match for Warfield United.
