Woodley Hammers took on The Metropolitan in worsening conditions
on a wet day. The Metropolitan dominated the possession of the play
but could not finish their chances and ended up losing out to Woodley
2-1. Neal Robinson and Rob Timbers scoring for Woodley with Wayne
Carter on target for The Metropolitan.
FC
Priestwood were out shot against opponents Winkfield Sports as the
visitors took the points away with a 2-1 win. Adam Smith scored
for the home side whilst Adam Sharpe and Anthony Wilkinson gave
Sports the victory.
FC
Diligent put in an outstanding performance in the 2nd half to see
off opponents Sunninghill Athletic 7-1. Diligent led 1-0 at the
interval but Sunninghill went to pot in the 2nd half as the home
side netted a further 6 goals to the tally, whilst conceding only
once in the game. Matt Davis (3), Richard Bland (2), Mark Parnell
and Jack Steadman all scored for Diligent, with Steve Mahoney netting
a consolation goal for Sunninghill.
Keltar
Old Boys were seen off by the advances of Rides United as the home
side fell foul of a 5-1 score line. Adam Lee netted the goal for
Keltar, but this was not enough as the visitors scored through Ashley
Partridge (2), Kevin Partridge, Adam Phillips and a 35yard effort
from Rob Jackson.
Wokingham
Wanderers changed things up by playing some new players this week
and were outgunned despite their efforts by Finchampstead Athletic
Sunday Res 2-1. Chris Hillsdon headed home the solitary goal for
Wanderers, but Ian Rose and Anthony Parsons made sure that Finch
took away all 3 points from the fixture.
2nd
Division
3M took advantage of a poor showing from AC Woodcutters to take
away all 3 points and a 3-0 victory. Bill Bailey, Martin Earl and
Chris Majors all finding the net for 3M.
BMW
saw off the advances of Finchampstead Athletic Sunday A and took
advantage of the majority of possession. This led to chances on
goal, of which Rory McGill (2) and Matt Ayres took advantage of
to take the win with a 3-0 score.
Dukes
Head and Bracknell Galaxy cancelled each other out as the final
score in this match ended at 1-1. Scott Trusty netted for the home
side, with Steve Champion replying for the visitors.
FC
Fernhill took a boost of morale mid week when they won the goalscorers
trophy, and took this into their match today against The Old Manor.
Having scrambled in an own goal, FC Fernhill took a 1-0 lead to
the half. With lacking fitness Manor were overrun in the 2nd half
and went down to a final score of 6-1. Ben Knight (2), Jamie Osbourne
(2) and Steve Tranter added goals for Fernhill, with Billy Golding
netting the consolation for Manor. Fernhill captain Sam Whiting
gets man of the match after a commanding performance in the centre
of the park.
3rd
Division
Bracknell
Manics Res took an early lead though Graham McDonald in their match
against The Bridge. This lead lasted until the 43rd minute when
Bridge netted twice to take a 2-1 lead to the break after trailing
for the majority of the half. Having scored prior to the interval,
heads were lifted and the attack commenced from the off in the 2nd
half by the Bridge. The away side netted a further 3 strikes to
take the final tally to 5-1 with Jamie Tucker, Mark Harvey (2),
Tom Conway and Rob Hallcroft all scoring for the visitors.
Queens
Head continue their good run of form and high scoring to see off
the charge from FC Muchachos de Bracknell to the tune of a 13-2
scoreline. Danny Russell (pen) and Ryan Mcgill managed to score
for Muchachos, but this was completely overshadowed by the awesome
attack from Queens Head. Dave Pye lead the way with 6 goals for
himself, with Kieron Painter grabbing 5, leaving John Allen and
Richard Gerrard to complete the rout.
Inter
led the charge against Finchampstead Athletic Sunday B as Richard
Laker and David Bird got on the score sheet before half time to
take a 2-0 lead to the interval. Into the 2nd half and a mad 5 minutes
saw the lead reversed when Phil Hemmings, James Hemmings (pen) and
Stuart Clarke all netted in quick succession for Finch to take a
3-2 lead. The game played out well and further strikes were inevitable
with Inter grabbing a further 2 from Steve Munday and Dale Williams,
but it was Finch whom had the last laugh as Richard Thorpe grabbed
a hat trick to see off the home side and take the final score to
7-4 in favour of Finch.
Leaders
have turned their fortunes around and spent 90 minutes dominating
their opposition Syngenta in this match. Leaders led from the off
and scored freely as Robert Wilcott (4), Stuart Tompkins (2), Andy
Willis, Nick Bright and Tom Hobbs all scored in this 9-0 win. The
score could have been even higher had the Syngenta keeper not had
a good game!
4th Division
AFC
Farmer still search for that all illusive 1st win of the season
as they went down fighting against FC A1 Group 6-2. Gareth Evans
and Aaron Timms managed to score for the home side, but this was
not enough as the visitors scored through Adam Cornell (2), Alec
Cherry, Steve Bland, Ben Elder and Richard Westerman.
Bagshot
Road Res climb the table after seeing off the charge from AFC Beechfleet.
Bagshot made short work of sloppy defending from Beechfleet as they
won the match 4-1 with goals coming from Chris Willis (2), Dave
Simmons and Neil Gandolfi. Beechfleet scorer was Liam Sherry.
Bracknell
Badgers made short work of Axfield as they condemned the visitors
to 2 losses in 2 without scoring a goal. Badgers scored through
Darren Grundy (2), Keeno, Jamie O’Donnell and Michael Howell
as they took the 3 points in a 6-0 win.
Athletico
Reading are also searching for a point this season after having
been defeated 2-1 by new table toppers Red Star. Andrew Nealan gave
Reading the lead before the half, only for Red Star to reply with
effect through Chris Long and Kicusic Priedrag as they struck home
for all 3 points.
Warfield
saw off the charge from William Twigg Res to enable themselves to
grab a close 1-0 win. Richie Cohen grabbed the solitary goal of
the game for Warfield as both teams battled until the end. Man of
the match awards go to James Knight and Andrew Pratt from Warfield.
Senior
League Cup 1st Round
Crowthorne
(the prince) from the premier took on FC Wokingham from the 1st
division and the home side managed to take a slim 3-2 lead to the
interval with goals coming form Tony Everest, Gary Lee and Paul
Graham. FC Wokingham upped the ante in the 2nd half and played on
a missed Crowthorne penalty to push forward for the win. Mo Zagbani
(2), Vinnie Bond (2) and Sean King grabbed the goals for FC Wokingham
in their 5-3 win.
Green
Man advance through to the 2nd round after knocking out Wokingham
United in a tough 1st round encounter. Darren Thorne gave Wokingham
the lead, only to be pegged back in the 2nd half by Craig Gurney
of Green Man. The Green Man keeper saved several attempts from the
Wokingham front line to force the game into extra time at 1-1. Green
Man came out on top after the extra half hour thanks to a Danny
Russell goal and a 2-1 win.
Winkfield
saw off the advancing Woodley Hammers with a score of 3-1. Winkfield
scored through Lee Nevard (2) and Sam Handley, with Kevin Findlay
grabbing the consolation for Woodley.
Wokingham
Wanderers pushed hard but could not overcome the efforts of Sunninghill
Athletic as the visitors took the game 6-3. Anthony Prior (pen)
and Tom Soane (2) struck for Wanderers, but Tommy McFadden, Danny
Teeder, Steve Mahony, Barry May, Tony May and Adam Knibbs all netted
for Athletic in this encounter.
Finchampstead
Athletic Sunday saw off the advances of Keltar Old Boys to advance
to round 2 with a 4-2 win. Finch scored through Harry Swabey (2),
Luke Axton-Hall and Josie Escorcio, with Stuart Clapsom grabbing
a brace for the visitors. Keltar played the 2nd half with only 9
men having seen the keeper sent from the park.
William
Twigg knock out last seasons victors of this cup Athletico Priestwood
with a 3-1 scoreline. Priestwood were down to the bare 11 as injurys
are playing a leading part in their season so far. Daniel Wing managed
to grab the goal for Priestwood, but this was not enough to see
off the Twigg.
Junior
League Cup 1st Round
Woodley
Hammers Res were on the back foot after 3 minutes against opponents
Keephatch Park as Chris Julian scored early for the visitors. Woodley
levelled the scores early in the 2nd half as Pat Townsend netted
for the home side. Hammers then missed a few opportunities, which
opened the game for Keephatch to take advantage of. Matt Keel and
Liam Davies grabbed further goals for Keephatch to take the final
score to 3-1 to the away team.
3rd
division Victoria Arms had to come from behind to overcome the advances
of 4th division The Birch in this 1st round match. The Birch took
an early lead as a header on from Steve Jones lead to a tap in for
striker Richard Anscomb for the lead. Danny Jones extended the lead
for Birch as a neat 25 yard free kick sailed into the top right
hand corner leaving the keeper with no chance. Kwarme Appiah latched
onto a defensive error to pull a goal back for Victoria, only for
Richard Anscomb to re-extend the lead to 3-1 before the half by
lobbing the back line and keeper from 20 yards into the top left
corner. Into the 2nd half and Victoria pushed hard on the defensive
line of Birch and were rewarded after forcing further mistakes from
the defence by levelling the game by strikes from Kwarme Appiah
and Jack Fisher. The Birch took the lead again after a long fee
kick by Tony Davies was met by the head of Charlie Turner which
looped up and over the keeper into the net. Victoria came back once
more and forced extra time as Ben Turner levelled things up by heading
home from 10 yards. Into extra time and the home side took advantage
for the 1st time in the match as Kwarme Appiah completed his hat
trick and scored in a one on one with the Birch keeper. With time
running out, Birch pushed forward leaving the defence stretched,
of which led to a further strike from Victoria from Steven Willis
as his strike went low and hard into the bottom right corner of
the net. Final score 6-4 to Victoria Arms.
Loddon
Valley Rangers attempted to keep up with Cable & Wireless, but
it was the 3rd division side whom triumphed with a 2-1 win. Kyle
Turner grabbed the goal for Loddon, with Craig Murphy and Tim Lineham
getting the winning goals for Cable.
