Match reports for all divisions & cup matches on 4th April 08

Premier Division

Bracknell Manics finished their season after a 4 week rest playing against title contenders Green Man. The break however did the Manics no favours as Green Man took an early lead through Nick Matthews and quickly went on to boss the majority of the game. Before long, Green Man were making short work of the Manics defence as Michael Brewster and Matthew Williams added further goals to give the home side a 3 goal advantage. With a half hour remaining, Green Man were reduced to 10 men due to injury and had to deal with an extra man on the Manics side. Simon (Pele) Blay netted for the Manics, but this was not enough as the Green Man had already done the damage and the game ended at 3-1.

This now sets up a crucial last game of the season against Athletico Priestwood to determine the premier league title. If Green Man can nick a win then their superior goal difference will see them pick up the trophy this year, anything less than 3 points and Athletico with be celebrating!

1st Division

Barn Rangers put in the best performance of there season today, finally their potential came to show by beating second place Emmbrook Inn whom were the firm favourites to take all 3 points before kick off. Wet and windy conditions didn't make things easy for either team, however Barn boasted the majority of the possession and were unlucky not to take the lead on more then one occasion in the first half. Emmbrook nearly took the lead 5 minutes before half time with a shot that was destined for the top corner but a stunning save by the Barn keeper Ashley Witthers kept things even going into the break. In the second half Barn took the game by the scruff of the neck and finally made there dominance count, Wayne Carter was the first to notch with good follow up from a well hit strike by Carl Moran. Barn then kept up the momentum and a fabulous curling shot by Carl Moran soon made it 2 nil to Barn. There was still more to come from Barn and a great build up provided there third goal with team captain James Kirby hitting a blockbuster left volley into the bottom corner of the goal giving the Emmbrook keeper no chance. At 3-0 Barn were cruising and let there foot off the gas slightly and conceded a weak goal from Luke Lee to put the home side back in with a chance making it 3-1. However, the game was soon put to bed by a fantastic individual goal by Neil Hanger who had been a constant threat all game. 4-1 the final score and truly deserved by Barn Rangers.

FC Priestwood put in a solid performance against Wokingham Wanderers and were rewarded with a 4-2 victory for their trouble. Tony Stevens, Jack McPhail, Stuart Cooper and Steve Bell netted for Priestwood whilst Paul Martin bagged a brace for Wanderers.

Wroxton lift themselves off the bottom of the table with a comprehensive win over fellow strugglers AFC Dukes. Ben Webber led from the off having scored with only 30 seconds on the clock for Wroxton. Within 15 minutes Ashridge had scored three times with goals from Luke Smith, Jon Austin and Patrick Lucas, they continued to dominate the first half with slick passing and getting the ball wide into the channels. Further goals from Ryan Millward and Jon Austin saw the home team go in 5 - 0 up at half time. Ashridge lost some of their rhythm after the break allowing BMW to get into the game but good defending only frustrated the visitors and with second half goals from Dan Sharratt (first of the season) and Ryan Millward sealed the victory for Ashridge Park. Final score 7-0 to Ashridge Park.
