FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

FAQ's for Managers/Secretaries

If my opposition responsible for arranging the match for Sunday hasn't phoned/emailed me by Thursday what should I do?
Do not contact the fixtures secretary. Instead, first try calling the secretary/manager of the opposition side. If you cannot contact the secretary or manager, then try the alternative contact. If this fails, contact the fixtures secretary and also write a letter to Hon. Sec to inform the league - the offending club will be then fined.

How do i update my club information in the club handbook?

On entry to the league a club has to pay £50 deposit. Every club has to pay a yearly affiliation fee of £35. The majority of league income is obtained from fines. The main League expenditure is on printing costs for handbooks, rulebooks, player registration forms, match report form pads, in addition to Committee members costs for telephone, paper, print cartridges and copying.

Do you have volunteers that help out with Bracknell Sunday league football, or are people paid to work?
No member of the Committee is paid for their time or work. All are volunteers who do the job because of their love of football and desire to put something back into the game. Without the Committee there would be no Bracknell Sunday League. The only payments claimed are for genuine expenses for phone, postage, paper, cartridges and copying. No member claims any mileage costs for use of their vehicle or fuel.

What is the participation rate within Bracknell Sunday league football?
After the AGM in June 2006 the league had 55 teams in five divisions. The limiting factor is the number of adult pitches available.

In season 1996-07 the league was comprised of 76 teams in seven divisions. A number of factors (including further education, changes in working weeks, and other alternatives to football) has led to a reduction although for the last five years we have maintained a constant number of teams between 55 and 60. Looking back through the records there are numerous Company teams who won honours including Rathdown, Jobs Dairies, Clark Eaton, Sperry Sports, B.Ae. Sports, Harris Lebus, Gowrings Utd, Hewlett Packard, Cadbys Garage, Scotts Removals, 3M, Kingsbury Transport, Miles 33, Dell Computers and Air Products. Very few of these still exist.

The league was at one time sponsored by John Wood Sports and has also had sponsorship for a variety of Cup competitions from Bill Murphy, Spectus, Florette Landscapes, Morlands, Gowrings, Boehringer, Shikara and Unigate Dairies.

The league now has close links with Bracknell Town F.C. who provide sponsorship in the form of free use of the Function Room for meetings, and free use of the pitch and ground facilities for the Cup finals, Senior Cup for the top two Divisions, Junior Cup for the bottom three Divisions and the Bracknell Town Challenge Cup a competition for clubs who have completed their league program by the end of March.

Is it too late to register a team? What is the deadline to register my team to the Sunday League? When is the cut off date for a new team entry to be made? Am I too late?
The applications for new teams to be submitted to the Hon Secretary of the League is the 30th April of each year.

The league does sometimes make exceptions to this rule. There are always teams that may dispand at short notice and so we are always looking for new sides to enter the league to fill positions after the 30th April. You should contact the Hon. Secretary for the league immediatley, and have completed administration ready as soon as possible.
